"Not This Tuesday Night"
Take a group of musicians with diverse and
dedicated interests. Add the usual Silicon Valley frenetic pace. Stir well.
Then try to get everyone to show up to rehearsal on the same night...
For a number of years the group tried to find
one evening a week to set aside for rehearsal. The best night for all seemed
to be Tuesday, but not this Tuesday night... Prior to drummer Michael Hyde
it was even worse: Mark Weiser, Chief Technologist of Xerox PARC, would
frequently phone the band on Tuesday afternoons to report he just had to
leave for Brazil or Switzerland on short notice. When interviewed for an
article in the San Francisco Chronicle about tech geeks in music the heretofore
nameless jazz quintet needed a spur of the moment name as the reporter
wanted to come to a rehearsal. "Not This Tuesday Night" was the response.
